ELD Mandate deadline

ELD Mandate April Deadline is HERE.

After a long few months of waiting, the April 1 deadline for the ELD Mandate has come and passed. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) says any commercial vehicle operating on the roads must now use an electronic logging device in order to track hours of service (HOS). Paper logs and AOBRDs are now considered obsolete and unacceptable ways to track hours. If you haven’t yet complied with the ELD Mandate, though, it’s not too late. While transitioning to ELD might seem daunting, it’s actually much easier than you might think.

Transitioning to ELD & FMCSA Compliance

All ELDs are not created equal, so be sure the ELD you choose is in compliance with the FMCSA ELD Mandate. My20 ELD and My20 Tower from Konexial are excellent options when it comes to transitioning to ELD and being FMCSA-compliant. Designed with users in mind, the My20 interface is incredibly intuitive and easy to learn. It comes with countless powerful features to streamline every aspect of your drive, from refueling to finding your next load. My20 ELD and My20 Tower are perfect for fleets of any size — whether you’re an independent owner/operator or driving with a fleet of 25 other trucks, Konexial’s telematics technology can work for you.

Keep Required ELD Documentation

The FMCSA requires drivers to keep certain ELD documentation in their vehicle at all times. While no one likes getting pulled over, sometimes it’s unavoidable. Drivers should always have an ELD packet including: an ELD user’s manual, instruction sheet detailing what to do if ELD malfunctions, instructions on how to transfer HOS from ELD to authorized official, and 8 days worth of blank driver’s records of duty status (RODS) graph-grids. Read more about the required ELD packet on our blog.

Avoid Being Placed Out of Service

If you’re driving a commercial vehicle, you now risk being placed out of service if caught driving without an FMCSA-compliant ELD installed in your truck. Technically, driving without an e-log means driving illegally, so complying with the ELD Mandate as soon as possible is essential to keeping your business up and running. Utilizing ELDs like My20 also work to improve your bottom line through powerful, money-saving features, so shop Konexial telematics today or contact us to help with your transition to ELD.
